As part of his visit to KMi to discuss potential collaboration, John Fox of Cancer Research UK gave a seminar on “Logics, tasks and agents: towards a unified model for delivering knowledge services”. This was an informal review of work at Cancer Research UK aimed at developing general methods and technologies for building knowledge based services for web deployment.
Since 1981 John Fox has been responsible for directing the Advanced Computation Laboratory, supervising a wide programme of research in theoretical and applied AI. He is currently collaborating on a number of projects, including COGENT, CADMIUM II, and RAGs. A notable recent achievement by Fox and members of the ACL has been the development of PROforma, a method and technology for authoring and enacting clinical guidelines and protocols at the point of care.
