MTN Gets an Airing at BETT 2005

Making The News, a schools research project which is using the KMi Rostra news system, got a significant public outing today at the annual Educational Technology show at Olympia in London. Sixth-form pupils from a Milton Keynes school used the news system to publish a number of multimedia stories live from the show.

For over 20 years, BETT has hosted the latest innovations and developments in ICT. Making The News is currently being rolled out to schools in the East of England Broadband Consortium area. The system supports multi media stories, video blogging and syndication. It is embedded in a research project which is looking at an education model which encourages students to act as “journalist reserachers” in their work. Discussions are now underway to take the concept and system nationwide.

Aside from MTN, the BETT show also hosted a design challenge, sponsored by Jaguar Racing, where teams of students are required to design, make and race the fastest model car.
