KMi’s Dr. Retno Larasati Delivers Keynote on ‘Ethics in AI Education’ at ICONSEIR 2025

Dr. Retno Larasati, as part of the “Shifting Power” project, spoke at The 7th International Conference on Educational Science in Industry Era 5.0 (ICONSEIR) 2025. Her keynote address was titled “Ethics in AI Education.” The event took place on October 15, 2025, in-person in Medan Indonesia and online via Zoom Meeting.

The conference theme was “Navigating the Future of Education: Building Excellent Character Based on Local Wisdom and Global Technology.” Dr. Larasati’s presentation discussed ethical considerations for Artificial Intelligence in education. She stated that as AI integrates into learning environments, its development and application should align with human values, fairness, transparency, and accountability. Her talk supported the principles of Industry Era 5.0, which integrates technology with humanistic and cultural principles.

Dr. Larasati’s presentation highlighted the need for educators, policymakers, and technologists to collaborate on ethical frameworks for AI in educational settings. She proposed curricula that provide students with AI literacy and an understanding of AI’s societal impact, promoting responsible innovation. Dr. Larasati indicated that integrating local wisdom and character-building into AI education can help future generations use technology while addressing potential biases and unintended consequences.

The event included more than 600 participants, comprising academics and researchers from national and international institutions. The conference addressed various topics, including education, learning technology, character development, and local wisdom. Dr. Larasati’s keynote contributed to the conference discussions on the future of AI in education.

Earlier this year, in May 2025, Dr. Retno Larasati also presented her paper titled “Inclusive AI Speech in Healthcare” at the “Speech AI for All: Promoting Accessibility, Fairness, Inclusivity, and Equity” workshop at CHI 2025.
