KMi in the top ORO charts

KMi is once again in the top charts of the Open Research Online (ORO), the Open University’s repository of research publications and other research outputs. A book chapter by Ale Okada, Alexander Mikroyannidis, Izabel Meister and Suzanne Little is in the top 10 most downloaded publications for February 2014.

The chapter is entitled "Colearning" – Collaborative Open Learning through OER and Social Media. It introduces the concept of colearning as well as discussing how open learning networks can produce, share and reuse OER collaboratively through social media. The aim of this investigation is to identify new forms of collaboration, as well as strategies that can be used to make the production and adaptation processes of OER more explicit for anyone in a social network to contribute. This open content is an adapted version of a conference paper for OCW conference 2012, which was created by the same authors. The chapter is available in English and Portuguese.

This is part of the book "Open Educational Resources and Social Networks" edited by Ale Okada. The book highlights different ways of reusing, recreating, remixing and redistributing OER. Its purpose is to illustrate how the collaborative production of research-based OER can contribute to enriching learning and teaching experiences in formal, non-formal and informal contexts. The book is open and available both in print and online.
