Grassroots initiated community network developers from around the UK met up in Lincolnshire on January 19th for the first CAN Colloquium. Mark Gaved, KMi PhD student attended as part of his research, meeting community groups that have developed their own local computer network to share high speed access and develop community resources.
The Community Broadband Network (CBN) has identified 260 such initiatives across the UK, and Mark is discussing with CBN about the best way to collate this information, so it may be used by practitioners, researchers, and policy makers.
