John Howard, Alison Hunter and Gordon McMullan from the BBC Digilab are visiting today. They are a small team in the BBC that looks at technology to help the BBC's staff share knowledge and communicate more effectively. They do this by bringing communities of practice together – both virtually and in real life – to share information and experience.
Evidently some work has been done in the beeb to put in a content delivery network on their Intranet. The digilab folks have been asked to help develop processes for acquiring, preparing and delivering rich media over this CDN to peoples desktop PCs. They have come to discuss our experience with Stadium and BuddySpace – as powerful ways of connecting people.
John Howard is the Technology Manager, BBC DigiLab, in the beeb at Wood Lane.
