Last week I co-chaired the 2nd International Conference on the Pragmatic Web. This is an exciting new community working at the intersection of social software, collaboration, discourse and the negotiation of meaning.
There is as yet no single, agreed definition of "Pragmatic Web" – it is serving as a banner around which an eclectic network is gathering, and as such is extremely stimulating. The conference provides common ground for intelligent dialogue about the role of semantics and structure in collaboration tools, building bridges between technologists and discourse theorists.
Slides from all speakers are now online in Slideshare, and the proceedings will shortly be archived in the ACM Digital Library, and freely accessible on the Open University’s eprint archive Open Research Online.
