OpenScout successfully completed

The final review of the OpenScout project took place yesterday in Luxembourg. The review was very successful, with an outcome of “excellent progress” for the project. The project officer and the reviewers commended the consortium on fostering the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) in management education and training.

Alexander Mikroyannidis presented the outcomes of the workpackage he has been leading. The main objective of this workpackage has been the facilitation of OER reuse and adaptation through the provision of Social & Educational Metadata and Community-based Quality Assurance Mechanisms.

Particular commendations were received on the efforts of the KMi team in building a library of tools for the adaptation of OER, as well as the publishing of an ebook with best practices for OER adaptation. The OpenScout work in KMi has been carried out by Alexander Mikroyannidis, Alexandra Okada, and Peter Scott. Izabel Meister, Suzanne Little, and Teresa Connolly have also been members of the team.

OpenScout was a three year project, running from September 2009 until August 2012. OpenScout’s activities are now continued within the Special Interest Group (SIG) Open Content for Business and Management.
