We are thrilled to announce that a team of researchers, technology developers, pedagogical experts and tutors from KMi and The Open University have been awarded the prestigious 2024 STEM Recognising Excellence Award for their groundbreaking contributions to education. Their work, particularly the development and successful implementation of the Early Alert Indicators Dashboard (OUAnalyse), has transformed how tutors support students by leveraging predictive analytics.
The award-winning team includes (in alphabetical order): Vaclav Bayer, Jason Carvalho, Miriam Fernandez, Anna Gillespie, Olivia Hagen, Christothea Herodotou, Hayley Lang, John Lee, Claire Maguire, Alba Morales-Tirado, Paul Mulholland, Sarah White and Tamsin Wisher.
Nominated by Prof. Miriam Fernandez, the team was recognised for their efforts to improve student outcomes and promote inclusivity through data-driven innovation. Prof. Fernandez highlighted the significance of their contribution, stating:
“For revolutionising teaching practices through the Early Alert Indicators Dashboard (OUAnalyse), empowering tutors with predictive analytics to enhance student success and inclusivity, and setting a new standard in data-driven educational support.”
The award recipients were unveiled during the Faculty Assembly on 9th October 2024, an event held online.
This award not only acknowledges the team’s achievements but also highlights the vital role of training, collaboration, and sharing best practices in enabling the success of data-driven tools that can help enhance student performance and contribute to a more inclusive academic environment.
