KMi welcomes Vice Chancellor to sample our world-leading Research and Innovations

This past Wednesday The Open University’s Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof Tim Blackman, visited KMi marking a significant moment of recognition for the groundbreaking work being conducted by our dedicated researchers. The Vice Chancellor was shown many demos, posters and presentations on current projects, highlighting innovative advancements across various fields and success in external funding. From cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence to pioneering projects in smart cities and citizen science, the visit underscored the institute’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and contributing meaningful solutions to Higher Education and various global challenges.

During the visit, the VC engaged with KMi’s staff, researchers and post-doctoral students, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and inspiration. The open discussions provided valuable insights into the future direction of our research and innovation initiatives and reinforced the university’s support for fostering an environment where academic excellence thrives. The VC’s positive feedback and encouragement were well-received, reaffirming the institute’s role as a cornerstone of the university’s research endeavours and its impact on both the academic community and broader society.

To continue this momentum, we are excited to announce a joint research showcase that will take place on the 2nd of July 2024. KMi and C&C (School of Computing and Communications) will be organising a face-to-face event that will allow both units to showcase their research and innovations, providing a valuable opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing. Come join us to foster future synergies and enhance our potential for collaborative research.
