C&C (The School of Computing and Communication) and KMi arranged a research festival designed to celebrate the research and innovations in these two units with the STEM Faculty, here at The Open University. The event showcased a taster of their latest research highlights and innovations. This face-to-face event provided a platform for networking and knowledge sharing, aiming to foster future collaborations, external bidding potential and to celebrate their research!
The event was divided into two main parts; a series of lightning talks from KMi and C&C researchers and; a research showcase of 18 stands highlighting a taster of what both subunits are working on.
The lightning talks began with a warm welcome from the KMi Director, Harith Alani and John Woodthorpe, the Head of School for C&C. They set the tone for a morning filled with inspiring talks from some of our leading researchers highlighting new research funding, live research grants and an insight into the scope of some research groups.
The research showcase opened at noon, following the talks segment. This soon became a vibrant, busy session as researchers and academics from both units and from throughout the university started engaging with the 18 stands which were available to interact with.
The stands were presenting research from a variety of groups ranging from OU Analyse, Collective Intelligence & Deliberation Technologies, Learning with Haptics, Responsible AI & Social Justice, Animal Computer Interaction, Resilient Autonomous Systems, Scholarly Knowledge, Digital Health Lab, Gratitude Tree, CORE , Opening up minds, Generative AI & Education, and the Polifonia Project.
