The UK Open Educational Resources (OER11) conference took place in the Manchester Conference Centre 11th-13th May 2011. KMi was represented by Teresa Connolly, Alexander Mikroyannidis, and Alexandra Okada.
Teresa along with Elpida Makriyannis (IET), Tina Wilson (IET) and Andy Lane (MCT) ran a very successful workshop centred on the game OERopoly. Both the global version and the localised UK version of the game were available. Further requests to repurpose the game were also received from a variety of participants.
Alexander and Alexandra presented their work on enabling and supporting users in localising, adapting and improving educational materials. They demonstrated the OpenScout tool library, an open online environment for sharing OER adaptation practices and experiences.
In addition, Elpida and Teresa have written a chapter about the use of games as mediating artefacts for the forthcoming KMi edited book: “Collaborative Learning: Open Educational Resources” edited by Ale Okada, Teresa Connolly & Peter Scott due for publication this summer.
